Open role

Community Director

Part-time · about 20 hours a week · Salt Lake City · Reports to Andrey Olinov

We’re hiring a Community Director to run our events and the community around them. You’ll take point on programming and logistics, working closely with Durable’s leadership, partners, and team. You’ll have their support, a real budget, and venue partners behind you.

About Durable

Where Utah owners meet

Durable is where Utah business owners and CEOs meet, learn from each other, and build relationships that last. Owners build much of what makes this state work, and too many of them build alone. We’re building the community that changes that: 1,600+ Utah member businesses, with speaker events, peer groups, and chapters built around shared interests for founders and owners.

Great events look effortless from the inside of the room. That takes someone who sweats the details and also gets to know the members: who they are, what they’re building, and who they should meet. You’ll make sure the people who come once come back.

The job

What you’ll do

  • Run event programming. Plan and produce Durable’s events start to finish: speakers, venues, budget, run of show, promotion timeline, and follow-up. These are well-produced events with strong speakers, real budgets, and venue partners.
  • Own the room. Check people in, open the event, MC when needed, and introduce speakers. Know who’s in the room and who they should meet.
  • Build continuity. Turn first-time guests into engaged members: their first event, their second, then the chapter or group conversation where they belong.
  • Support chapter leadership. Work with chapter Chairs and Leadership Committees on calendars, event checkpoints, and turnout. ETA Utah and Nonprofit Innovators are live; more chapters are forming.
  • Collaborate on communications. Work with Morgan, who leads our social media and newsletter, to share what happens at events: photos, quick recaps, and member stories. Keep the chapter WhatsApp groups welcoming.

The person

Who you are

  • You’ve managed events before, and you like the coordination: venues, vendors, timelines, details.
  • You’re at ease with owners and CEOs. You can MC, introduce a speaker, and work a happy hour. You can also hold a real conversation about running a business.
  • Warm energy, not loud energy. You remember people.
  • You respect owners’ time. They’re busy and already pitched too much.
  • You run a lot of moving parts at once and notice when something is slipping.
  • You want to build something, not just staff it.

Where this goes

Your part in our growth

Durable is young and growing. We plan to grow the community several times over in the next few years, and we’re investing to get there: budget, venue partners, sponsors, and new programs. You’ll help shape what that growth looks like, and keep the room worth showing up for as it gets bigger.

  • Keep a six-month event calendar look-ahead.
  • Grow the community while keeping membership quality high.
  • Build an event playbook that makes each event better than the last.
